The way of the developer
by Sebastien Mirolo on Thu, 19 May 2011After years of dedicated training, little dragon kicked and punched like the sharpest warriors. However, despite his years of training, he had not reached the developer level of understanding yet. Frustrated, he asked his master: "I tried everything. Shifu, what is the way of the developer?" The Shifu replied:
"Little dragon, when you want to hit your opponent, your safest bet is to
throw your fist or feet in a straight line. It is effective. It is Jeet-Kune-Do;
as a developer, minimize time and space for algorithms, data encoding and
movements. This will delight customers and send competition to bite the dust.
Tai Chi is round. It turns, circles, and leverages natural forces until your
opponent is faced by the power of a crushing wave. It is efficient because
it uses the least amount of energy. Little dragon, think of your build, test
and release systems as circles, automate so that those scripts can be run over
and over again. Keep momentum as feedback flows directly into your development
process"
